"In my work right now I am striving for simplicity. My questions revolve around what is essential? When beginning with color, it is tempting to experience and retain every swirl, every line, every relationship; but is it possible to experience these while painting and yet relinquish them as the painting progresses, so that in the end the essence of the motif is experienced? How much blue does orange need? What lines suggest a cow? How do we know an angel?"
